I’ve been mak­ing this savory, com­fort-food dish for years. Easy Ham­burg­er Stroganoff has actu­al­ly been a long-time fam­i­ly favorite. It seems that I will go months and months with­out mak­ing it and then for some rea­son it comes to mind, again. I had some ground beef I need­ed to use up, today and I thought of this easy recipe.

I added a vari­a­tion to this recipe that makes it more “beefy” than my orig­i­nal. I typ­i­cal­ly, make it with just cream of chick­en soup and sour cream. Some­one sug­gest­ed that since it’s a beef recipe, i should try to “beef” it up. The vari­a­tion in the recipe card, is the result. It was good, too, though I think my fam­i­ly still prefers the orig­i­nal. Choose the one your fam­i­ly likes best and fits what you have on hand. I hope it becomes one of your favorites.

Serve Easy Ham­burg­er Stroganoff over mashed pota­toes, rice or like us, egg noo­dles. It’s a great choice for busy week­nights, because it can be on the table in under 30 min­utes! Enjoy, my friends!

For my Orig­i­nal Recipe

  • 2 lbs ground beef, (browned, drained and crumbled)
  • 1 (26 oz) can cream of chick­en soup (that’s the fam­i­ly-size can)
  • 3 cups sour cream

For the “Beefy” variation:

  • 2 lbs ground beef, (browned, drained and crumbled)
  • 1 (26 oz) can cream of mush­room soup (that’s the fam­i­ly-size can)
  • 1 (10.2 oz) can French onion soup
  • 3 cups sour cream
  • 1 Table­spoon beef bouil­lon (I use Bet­ter than Bouil­lon brand.)


  1. Choose one set of ingre­di­ents and toss all of then into a *12″ cast iron skil­let and stir them togeth­er over medi­um heat.
  2. Con­tin­ue cook­ing until hot and bubbly.
  3. Serve over wide egg noo­dles, mashed pota­toes or rice.

How to Make Easy Hamburger Stroganoff

Easy Hamburger Stroganoff Ingredients

It does­n’t look like much, just look­ing at the indi­vid­ual ingre­di­ents, but Easy Ham­burg­er Stroganoff may well be the sim­plest, hearty, com­fort-food meal you ever make!

Start by brown­ing your ham­burg­er if you haven’t already done that. This is also a good time to start boil­ing noo­dles (or rice or potatoes).

Once the ham­burg­er is browned and drained, put it back in the *skil­let with the cream of mush­room soup, French onion soup, sour cream and bouillon.

Stir it all togeth­er and heat over medi­um heat until it is hot and bub­bly. Serve over your favorite starchy side. I usu­al­ly make noo­dles, but have also served it over mashed pota­toes and over rice.

Easy Ham­burg­er Stroganoff is a fill­ing, com­fort-food dish that’s incred­i­bly easy to make. Put it in your meal rota­tion and your fam­i­ly will be excit­ed when­ev­er they see it come to the table!
