It seems that I will go months and months without making it and then for some reason it comes to mind, again. I had some ground beef I needed to use up, today and I thought of this easy recipe.

As suggested by a reader, I added a variation to this recipe that makes it more “beefy” than my original. That version still has only five ingredients. I have added that variation to the recipe card, so you can choose your favorite Hamburger Stroganoff recipe.

I typically make our Hamburger Stroganoff with just cream of chicken soup and sour cream. We are not mushroom fans at our house, but if you are, feel free to also add sliced mushrooms.

The reader-suggested “beefier” variation was good, too, though I and my family still prefer the original. The bonus is that the original Hamburger Stroganoff recipe is the easiest and least expensive to make.

Choose the one your family likes best and fits what you have on hand. I hope Hamburger Stroganoff becomes one of your family favorites, too.

Serve Easy Hamburger Stroganoff over mashed potatoes, rice, or like us, egg noodles. It’s a great choice for busy weeknights because it can be on the table in under 30 minutes! Enjoy, my friends!

How to Make Easy Hamburger Stroganoff

It doesn’t look like much, just looking at the individual ingredients, but Easy Hamburger Stroganoff may well be the simplest, hearty, comfort-food meal you ever make!

Start by browning your hamburger if you haven’t already done that. This is also a good time to start boiling noodles (or rice or potatoes).

Once the hamburger is browned and drained, put it back in the *skillet with the remaining ingredients from whichever version of Easy Hamburger Stroganoff you have chosen.

Stir it all together and heat over medium heat until it is hot and bubbly. Serve over your favorite starchy side. I usually make noodles, but have also served it over mashed potatoes and over rice.

Easy Hamburger Stroganoff is a filling, comfort-food dish that’s incredibly easy to make. Put it in your meal rotation and your family will be excited whenever they see it come to the table!
