Delicious, homemade, healthy condiments are my solution to a healthier eating dilemma. I mentioned, earlier this month, that I started a *Whole 30 with my adult daughters, at the beginning of January. Condiments and Sauces that are Whole 30 compliant are very difficult to come by, unless you’re prepared to spend a premium. I’ve spent the past week experimenting with some recipe ideas that can make our meals even more exciting. When doing a *Whole 30, you completely eliminate grains (and thus, gluten), legumes, dairy, the unhealthy fats and all sugars (other than limited fruit), along with sugar substitutes, from your diet. The purpose is to sort of reset your system. Any residual health effects from a poor diet are slowed or stopped. Toxins are flushed from the body. After 30 days, you begin to gradually add one category at a time, back to your diet, to see if it could be the cause of allergies, sensitivities or inflammation. As you can imagine, removing that number of food groups from an American diet means getting pretty creative when it comes to condiments.
