Roast was our traditional Sunday meal growing up as well, so it has happy memories for me too! But I never have tried making it in the slow cooker! It looks so easy and I know cooking meat slow makes it so tender. I can’t wait to try it!
Kathleen, the cooking time is the same. It’s what we call roast beef here in southeast Nebraska. It’s a chuck roast, so it won’t create neat, thin slices like you would get if you roasted a leaner roast in the oven, ie, a top or bottom round roast or a ribeye roast. As the post mentions, it will be so tender it will fall apart. It’s absolutely scrumptious.
Hi Judy, yes that makes sense to me. I haven’t tried that myself, but I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work. You can also sub in a single packet of dry onion soup mix. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Glenda you are an absolute life saver! I’m in a small town for thanksgiving and didn’t want to cook a turkey and all 3 stores were out of whole chickens.
Decided to make a pot roast instead! Already smells good so I’m sure it will come out well and it’s so easy to make!
Oh, Jim! That’s wonderful! I hope you had a wonderfully blessed Thanksgiving and enjoyed a fantastic meal! Hope to see you around the blog, again, soon!

If you make one roast is cooking time the same ? Is this really more like roast beef or pot roast?

If I use 1 roast should I use one gravy packet? Thanks
