Ingredients You Need to Make Homemade Fudge Sauce

Six common pantry ingredients are all that’s required for this recipe: milk chocolate chips, a bar of unsweetened chocolate, evaporated milk, sugar, vanilla and butter.

Pro Tip: If you get in a pinch and don’t have a bar of unsweetened chocolate in the pantry, did you know there’s a simple substitute you can use? For every ounce of baking chocolate that is called for, sub in 3 Tablespoons of cocoa powder and 1 Tablespoon of melted butter. So, for example, in this recipe you would substitute 16 Tablespoons (1 cup) of cocoa and 5 1/3 Tablespoons of melted butter for the bar of unsweetened chocolate.)

How to Make Homemade Fudge Sauce

Place all the ingredients, except butter, into a *3-quart saucepan. Stir and melt them over medium heat, just until the mixture comes to a boil. You don’t need a full rolling boil. Heat it until bubbles begin to break the surface of the chocolate and you can see it is visibly thicker.

Remove the homemade fudge sauce from the heat and stir in the butter, whisking until it’s completely melted and incorporated. ( The sauce will thicken even more as it cools.) It’s truly that simple.

Serve it over ice cream, cheesecake or any of your favorite desserts. I promise you won’t be wishing for sauce from the store, any time soon.

Enjoy!
