Description

Easy, delicious and affordable Bisquick Taco Pie is a money- and time-saving weeknight dinner dream.  Love by young and old, this simple recipe will quickly become one of your favorite meal rotation “regulars.”

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb. ground beef, browned and drained (454 g)
  • 1 (1 oz) pkg. taco seasoning mix (28 g)
  • 1 (4 oz) can green chilies (113 g)
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, grated (114 g)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup baking mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400° and grease a 9″ deep dish pie plate or a 9″ round cake pan.  (I have also baked this in a 9″ square pan and simply cut it into rectangles instead of wedges.)
  2. Brown the ground beef and drain off any excess grease.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning and chili peppers.  Taste the meat mixture for seasoning and add salt and pepper if needed.
  4. Spread the meat mixture into the prepared pie plate.
  5. Sprinkle the freshly grated cheese over the meat.
  6. Whisk together the baking mix, milk and eggs to create a smooth batter.  I always seem to have a few lumps in mine, but you do want to be certain that it’s all fairly well incorporated.
  7. Pour the batter over the cheese and meat, filling the pie plate evenly.
  8. Bake at 400° for 25 to 30 minutes until a knife or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow the taco pie to cool in the pie plate for 5 to 10 minutes.  Then slice and serve with your favorite taco toppings.
