Description

Homemade Sweet Chili Sauce is sweet, spicy & tangy deliciousness for your favorite Asian dishes. 5 Ingredients, 5 Minutes.

Serve with egg rolls and other favorite Asian inspired dishes.  It’s also great for making sweet chili chicken or mixing into a marinade.  You can stir it into mayo for a delicious burger or sandwich topping with some kick.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3/4 cup cold water
  • 4 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 13 Tablespoons chili garlic sauce, (Choose your heat level. 1=mild 2=medium 3=very hot)
  • 1 Tablespoon tamari or gluten free soy sauce (Can substitute soy sauce if you’re not gluten free.)

Instructions

  1. Place cold water in a medium saucepan and whisk in the cornstarch.  Stir until cornstarch is completely dissolved.  Be sure the water is cold or the cornstarch won’t dissolve without lumps.
  2. Add the rice vinegar, sugar, chili sauce and soy sauce.  Whisk to combine all the ingredients.
  3. Cook over medium heat until mixture comes to a boil.  Sugar should be dissolved and sauce thickened before removing from the heat.
  4. Serve with egg rolls and other favorite Asian inspired dishes.  It’s also great for making sweet chili chicken or mixing into a marinade.  You can stir it into mayo for a delicious burger topping with some kick.
