Seasoning and flavoring your food and baked goods with herbs, spices, blends and extracts you create yourself will open you up to a whole new world of flavor.
Flavors can be bolder, richer and deeper when you make the seasoning yourself. And learning to blend herbs and spices that are complementary is one of the most fun “mad scientist” adventures I undertake in my kitchen. I have discovered some extraordinary flavor profiles.
Many cultures are known for their specific spice blend flavor profiles. And within those cultures, the smaller regions, even though they are quite near to each other, often have a profile that is completely different. And the next subset of those regions is the individual families. Some of their personal spice blends are closely guarded family secrets and handed down from generation to generation.
